Ultra small particle, or USP colloidal silver is quite naturally made as a result of the electro-colloidal process. It came to be called 'ionic' silver due to the fact that an electron is missing from each atom as it is forced away from the original material by electricity.

Conversely, when these silver ions group into colloids they get an extra electron and this too is scientifically designated as ionic. Anyway, this phrase came to be used by mom & pop bottlers for the smallest bits prior to typical colloid formation which is usually yellow in color.

Ultra small particle (USP) colloidal silver is what is made naturally, books show all silver breaks off electrically at 1.26 angstroms .

Interestingly enough, the rate of departure per hour of separated silver is the scientific measure for the amp -or- ampere. More power equals more silver in solution, but there are variables; making colloidal silver is easy..but it's fickle- and you want to make sure you have clear 'ionic' or yellow colloidal silver.

What typically happens is some percentage of the silver ions gather the carbon dioxide from the air that prepares them for grouping into colloids. But don't use salt as an electrolyte, or citric acid for that matter, both create an undesireable by-product. Bubble, stir or use electrolyte or simply settle for a more ionic and less colloidal solution. Colloidal scientist Francis S. Key says the normal rate of colloidalization is about 2-10% in a given batch of homebrew.

The lesser sized, so called 'ionic' silver has been shown by recent university study to attach itself to the AIDS virus, thus killing it. But don't use it on simple flu or infection; it would appear that yellow medical-grade colloidal silver is best for this and it causes no harm to tiny beneficial organisms.

I know this might seem confusing in the beginning -but to explain- it is first and always ionic which is clear, next it groups into colloids and gets yellow or golden color then as these ions turned colloid groups get larger, the color fades to gray, non-flushing colloids.
